LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION

Two Letters of Recommendation are required from individuals who are familiar with your academic abilities and accomplishments. These should not be personal letters from friends or family members. Examples of suitable recommenders include teachers, particularly science teachers, school administrators and counselors, and previous research mentors, etc. IF YOU WERE A STEP-UP OR NHSSSRP PARTICIPANT IN A PREVIOUS SUMMER PROGRAM, one of the two letters MUST be from your most recent STEP-UP research mentor.

• The attached file contains two copies of the official Letter of Recommendation Template; one for each of your recommenders.
• Please download the Letters of Recommendation instructions and give one to each individual that you have requested to write a letter for you.
• You should request Letters of Recommendation at least one month in advance to insure timely completion and receipt of the letter. The recommendation provider should mail or email the letter to the address indicated below.
• Letters of Recommendation must be received no later than February 15, 2010.
• Letters of Recommendation must not be sent directly by the student.
